Creativity is an inherent factor in human life yet most contemporary cultures
stifle it.
Twisted Stitches first newsletter was sent out by Lynn Harper Wilson in May of 1997. The first meetings were held at Liverpool Public Library, and Baldwinsville Public Library. The guild started out meeting twice monthly with members attending at the location of their choice.
First officers were Lynn Wilson, President, Katrina Knox, VP, Betty Smith, secretary, and Esther Bozak, treasurer. The second newsletter asked for members to knit items for soldiers in Bosnia. By the fall of 1997, meetings were held solely at the N Syracuse library.
As sometimes happens with organizations, a period of time lapsed in which records were either not kept, or have been lost to time. From 1999-2003, the Guild operated at some level about which we know little.
By 2004, the Guild membership had doubled, and the Ad Hoc Steering Committee, who had been keeping the guild afloat, reorganized, returning to a more formal Board of Directors. Their Aug newsletter pointed out that in order for the guild to function, every member should be willing to volunteer in some capacity. The Guild also changed their meeting place, moving from the N Syracuse library to the Baldwinsville library.
